Robert F. “Bob” Porod became the newest town Trustee during the swearing-in ceremony. Born and raised in Cicero, Porod said he knows the town very well. He has coached youth baseball and basketball teams and has mentored Cicero youth in science, math and continuing education opportunities.
Outside of his civic work, Porod has been a professional engineer, registered to work in Illinois and Michigan. He holds a B.S. in Mechanical Analysis and Design Engineering from the University of Illinois. He holds two patents and several technical disclosures for his work and has earned a number of awards for his engineering work. Porod has been married to his wife, Jan Porod, for over 48 years. The two have three children and four grandchildren.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to give back to a town that has done so much for me and my family,” Porod said.
Town President Larry Dominick welcomed Porod to the board, saying that the newest member has a wealth of knowledge that will serve the board greatly.
“I am looking forward to what Bob will bring to our board,” Dominick said. “It’s exciting to see the potential.”
