In 2014, Morton District 201 started on an ambitious project: ensure every student attending any of the four schools has a laptop. Now, when the class of 2021 enters the Freshman Center, over 8,000 student laptops will be deployed, reaching every student enrolled at Morton East, Morton West, Morton Alternative School, and the Freshman Center.
The 2200 Dell Latitude laptops accompany the 400 Dell Interactive Whiteboards, ensuring more students are able to learn with the best available tools. To accompany the technology, Morton has added more Tech Service Internship sections, enabling students to learn how to keep the laptops in working order and to help other students fix problems with their computers.
“With full implementation next year, we hope to continue to broaden the instructional technology in our district as well as provide our students with more opportunities to help them in their post-secondary endeavors,” said Samantha Skubal, director of Information Technology at 201.
