Town Clerk Marylin Colpo is a life long resident of the Town of Cicero. A graduate of Our Lady of Charity and Morton East High School, Marylin studied accounting and computers at Morton College before beginning her over thirty years of service to the Town of Cicero, beginning in the Parking Violations Department.

In June of 1975, Marylin began working full time in the Town Clerk's Office. She was appointed Town Clerk in March of 1997 and was elected to a full term in April of 1997, being re-elected to the office in 2001 and 2005. She is a former serving member of the Family Service and Mental Health Board.





The Office of the Clerk oversees all elections and election related activities in the Town of Cicero, including voter registration, absentee voting and the new early voting program.

Additionally, the office is responsible for:
  • Birth certificates (only for residents born within the Town of Cicero);
  • Death certificates;
  • Burial permits;
  • Block party permits;
  • Garage sale permits;
  • Freedom of Information Act Requests;
  • Process passport requests;
  • 50/50 Flood Control application;
  • Town Board Information (Board Meeting Agendas & Minutes);
  • Accounts Payable;

    Are You Registered To Vote In The February 2nd Gubernatorial Primary Election?

    The DEADLINE for registering in order to be eligible to vote in the FEBRUARY 2ND Election is TUESDAY, JANUARY 5TH, 2010.
    Stop by the Town Clerk's Office with two forms of identification, at least one of which must show your current address and we can have you registered to vote in a matter of minutes. You must be a citizen of the United States and 18 years of age by ELECTION DAY, FEBRUARY 2ND in order to register.


    Don't Forget To Vote In The Gubernatorial Primary Election On February 2nd

    If you are unable to go to the polls on Tuesday, February 2ND for the Gubernatorial Primary Election you may VOTE EARLY at the Cicero Town Offices. (Choice of Two Locations) Anyone who is registered to vote can Early Vote if they present a government issued photo ID. You do not need to provide an excuse or reason why you cannot make it to the polls on Election Day.

    Block Party Permits

    Planning a block party? Here's what you need to know...

    Block Parties are allowed from Memorial Day thru Labor Day.

    PERMITS WILL BE LIMITED TO TWO PER DAY. HOURS ARE 12:00 NOON TO 7:00 P.M.

    Seventy-five percent of the residents on the block need to sign a petition to have a block party. Petitions need to be submitted to the Town Clerk's Office 30 days prior to the party. A $100.00 deposit is required for the party if barricades are requested and is refundable upon their return.


    Garage Sale Permits

    Please remember a permit is required to host a garage sale. Permits are available in the Clerk's Office and are good for a 2-day sale. However, you may only have a garage sale once a year.

    NEW REGULATION: Permits must now be posted at the entrance door to the garage sale.

    Advertising for the sale may be placed only in the front yard area of the premises. Signs are NOT allowed on public property, streetlights or telephone poles. The Code Enforcement Department will make routine inspections for compliance with Town Ordinances. Violators may be fined up to $100.00.


    Apply for your US Passport

    You can apply for your U.S. Passport (Valid for travel by air, land or sea) or the new U.S. Passport Card (Valid for travel by land or sea) from the Clerk's Office located at the Cicero Town Hall 4937 W 25th Street, 1st Floor, Room 102 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., Monday thru Thursday.

    The new Passport Card is valid for land and sea crossings between the United States and Canada, Mexico, Bermuda, and the Caribbean and provides a less expensive, smaller and more convenient alternative for those who travel to these destinations.     HERE IS WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING:
  • 2 (2x2) Passport photos
  • Valid Driver's License or State ID
  • Original/certified copy of Birth Certificate or Certificate of Citizenship

    PASSPORT BOOK FEE SCHEDULE:
    Please note that there are two fees to be paid, the U.S. Department of State fee and the agency fee. (Personal checks or money orders are accepted)

    Age 16 and over:
  • $75 fee (payable to the U.S. Department of State)

    Age 15 and under:
  • $60 fee (payable to the U.S. Department of State)
  • $25 fee (payable to the Town of Cicero)

  • $20 fee (payable to the U.S. Department of State)

    Age 15 and under:

    Need to report a Street or Alley Light out?

    Please call the Clerk's Office at 708-656-3600 x 227

    STREET LIGHTS are maintained by the Town's Electrical Department and are restored to working order within a day or two.

    ALLEY LIGHTS are maintained by ComEd and restored to working order within 2-4 weeks.


    Want to apply for the Town's 50/50 Flood Control program?

    1) Submit three (3) contractor's estimates to install any overhead plumbing to the Clerk's office,

    2) The contractor or owner is required to obtain all necessary permits,

    3) All work will be inspected by the Town of Cicero,

    4) The homeowner is responsible for paying the full amount and once a receipt of the full payment is received, the owner will be reimbursed 50% or up to $2000 maximum.
