The Town of Cicero Senior Services Department was created in the year 2000 to address the needs of our senior community.

An initial staff of 2 has grown to a full service department of 13, including:
- 1 administrator
- 4 office staff
- 3 home repair technicians
- 6 bus drivers.

All services are offered to seniors age 62 and over and handicapped citizens who are collecting Social Security and disability benefits.



Transportation

Free door to door bus service is available 7 days a week for all medical appointments, doctor visits, shopping and other needs by calling the Senior Transportation Service Hotline at 708-222-3879. The Department of Senior Services must be contacted 24 hours before the desired pick up time.

Times of service are:
- Monday through Friday, 8am-4pm
- Saturday and Sunday, 8am-3pm



Handyman Program

Free minor home repairs are performed by our experienced repair technicians. Offered repairs are electrical work, minor carpentry, minor interior and exterior painting and plumbing.



Snow Removal Program

Snow removal is offered at no charge to qualified homeowners after an official 3 inch snowfall.



Home Repair Reimbursement Program

Qualified senior homeowners may receive up to $500.00 reimbursement for pre-approved contractor home repairs and a $50.00 reimbursement if a permit was required. All improvements under this program must be pre-approved.



Lawn Cutting Service

A 26 week program of free lawn cutting, beginning on May 1st and ending in October is also offered to qualified homeowners. Lawns will be cut once per week during the term of the program.
