Recycling Program

The Town of Cicero implemented it’s recycling program twelve years ago. In 1993, Cicero joined the West Central Municipal Conference (WCMC) as an active member. That same year, the Town of Cicero started to experience a phenomenon of ethic and demographic change that presented a significant challenge in implementing a comprehensive recycling program. Town Officials and the Department of Public Works adopted the Blue Bag Program. The program provides blue bags for recycleables free of charge to town residents.

Over the years, the Blue Bag Program has remained an effective and inexpensive method to provide recycling services to our residents because of simplicity.

How to use Blue Bags
Our residents are asked to use the blue bags for recycling purposes only, including: aluminum, paper and plactic. Glass should be recycled and placed in cardboard boxes to avoid injury to garbage workers. Boxes containing glass should be placed aside from the garbage cans. We also have a recycling bin located on the corner of 25th Street and 50th Avenue. Please feel free to drop off there any items to be recycled.

For more information about recycling and updates on future recycling events, please contact our office at 708-656-3600 x 217.
