Five Suspects Held in Kidnapping of Cicero Businesswoman
7/19/2010 4:00:00 PM

Five people were ordered held on $2 million bail today after they were charged in connection with a botched kidnapping attempt last week on the owner of a Cicero beauty salon.

Cook County Circuit Court Judge James Gavin ordered the four men and one woman held on the cash bond this morning which requires them to pay the full amount to be released prior to their trial. The five individuals charged with aggravated kidnapping are Blanca Solis, 38 and her husband Marco Cadenas, 35 both of Schiller Park and Gerardo Moreno, 39, Victor Mendoza, 34, and Ricoberto Lopez, 26 of Chicago.

"I am very proud of the persistence of our Cicero police detectives," said Cicero Town President Larry Dominick. "They worked countless hours on this seamlessly with the FBI to insure a positive outcome to this awful crime."

The woman was kidnapped Wednesday night at 9:43pm. The kidnappers then called the woman's husband and demanded a $200,000 ransom. Despite being told not to contact police the husband immediately called Cicero police. Cicero police were immediately in contact with the FBI who put up the ransom money. The FBI surveilled the money drop as well as two other locations. After the husband was led by the kidnappers, eventually ending up in Shiller Park, the FBI arrested the 5 individuals and recovered the kidnapping victim.
