19th Street & Lombard Avenue Changed to One-Way to Improve Safety
7/23/2010 2:00:00 PM

Beginning on August 10, 2010, several streets in Cicero will become One-Way. Those Streets are:

  • Lombard Ave. - from Roosevelt Road to 29th Street, and from Ogden Avenue to Pershing Road. This street will be designated as One-Way Southbound. Parking on Lombard Avenue should be addressed as needed.

  • 19th Street - from Laramie Avenue to Cicero Avenue. This street will be designated as One-Way Eastbound. Parking on 19th Street should be addressed as needed.

The Town of Cicero Board voted to designate Lombard Avenue, in cooperation with the City of Berwyn, and 19th Street, as one-way Streets in an effort to improve safety for children and families.

A survey of traffic by the Police Department over the last three years has shown multiple traffic accidents and citations issued in these areas. The town previously moved to install new stop signs at certain intersections on the two streets but it was determined that the stop signs were not enough to protect drivers and residents.

The changes will create a safer environment and add to the quality of life for area residents and their children.

Please watch for the new ONE WAY SIGNS to be posted.

If you have any questions please contact Public Works Department at 708-652-2490
